When pop music became increasingly popular in the 1950s, the acoustic bass was often drowned out by the drums and other instruments in pop bands. To solve this problem, American inventor Leo Fender introduced the electric bass guitar in 1951, combining elements of the double bass and the electric guitar. Today, the bass guitar is an essential instrument in many different musical styles, including jazz, funk, heavy metal, pop, rock and blues. It offers endless musical possibilities!
